Deansfield Dashers...

We did it! All four Deansfield Dashers made it to the marathon finishing line! Thank you so much to all our sponsors who have raised a fantastic £1050, which with gift aid increases to £1282.50. We also have some off line donations and will let you know the final total later this week.
Our route started, and finished, at the Wide Horizons Centre in Bexley Road. We walked some of the paths encounterd on our training walks as we headed to Lesnes Abbey and then the route passed through Thamesmead taking in some of the Thames Path and skirting Birchmere Lake. We then headed to Woolwich and the Greenwich Peninsula, where we walked round the O2, and eventually returned to the Thames Path to Greenwich. Passing the Cutty Sark, we walked up through Greenwich Park, crossed Blackheath and headed for Shooters Hill. The final stretch was familiar ground as we passed through Oxleas Woods, Shepherdleas Wood and Eltham Park North and South. It was lovely to see a Deansfield pupil as we passed the duck pond! We were pleased, and amazed, as we reached the finish line back at Wide Horizons Centre.
Thank you to the Wide Horizons marshalls who kept us fed, watered and kept our spirits up en route.
Thank you to all our sponsors some of whom were donating as we walked, spurring us on.
We are glad we have managed to raise so much which will directly benefit our school pupils.
